About Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a holistic form of healing which helps the body to heal itself. It can be used for everything from a simple bruise or cut to serious illnesses. A homeopath will give you the homeopathic medicine which corresponds to your individual symptoms. It is tailor-made especially for each patient’s condition and cannot be used for anybody else.

The medicine, or remedies, as they are called, are safe and pleasant to take and leave no nasty taste in your mouth. They can be given to babies, children, pregnant women and all members of the community.

Homeopathy works on the principle of “like cures like” (also known as the Law of Similars), i.e. a substance that produces certain symptoms in a person that is healthy will cure symptoms in someone who is ill.  For example the remedy arsenicum is made from arsenic (which is of course poison) and a homeopath will use arsenicum to treat cases of food poisoning.
